About LIGA

Data processing, analysis, and interpretation is one of the main challenges of today’s big data “-omics” approaches. This is particularly true for the field of genome research, which has seen unprecedented progress after the advent of high-throughput genome-wide genotyping and sequencing approaches.

To foster genome research activities on campus, University of Lübeck has installed the “Lübeck Interdisciplinary Platform for Genome Analytics” (LIGA) within its Medical Faculty (“Sektion Medizin”). The overarching aim of LIGA is to improve our understanding of the genetic and epigenetic foundations of genetically complex human traits and diseases, in particular those related to aging. To this end, our group is using various types of high-throughput genome technologies in human DNA and RNA samples collected within the auspices of a number of different national and international collaborative projects.

By the way: we are always seeking highly motivated junior or senior scientists for our team, so be sure to check out our open positions page in case you are interested to join LIGA!
